Sea Moss for Eosinophilic Fasciitis: Anti-Inflammatory, TGF-beta1/IL-5/Eosinophil Fascial Fibrosis & Mineral Support

Eosinophilic fasciitis (EF, Shulman syndrome) is a rare fibrosing disorder of the deep fascia and subcutaneous tissue (~1/million), driven by CD4+ Th2 T-cell polarization, IL-5/IL-4/IL-13-mediated eosinophil recruitment and degranulation, TGF-beta1/SMAD2/3 fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transdifferentiation, eosinophil major basic protein (MBP) tissue damage, complement C3/C4 deposition, and NF-kB/IL-6/PDGF-mediated fascial collagen III accumulation causing peau d'orange induration, joint contracture, and aplastic anemia association. Sea moss fucoidan modulates NF-kB, TGF-beta1/SMAD, and complement C3/C4 inflammatory cascades; selenium supports fascial fibroblast GPx1/GPx4 antioxidant defense; omega-3 modulates IL-5 eosinophil activation, PGE2/LTB4 eicosanoids, and resolvin E1/D1 anti-inflammatory resolution; zinc supports FOXP3+ Treg balance and tissue-repair metalloenzyme collagenase (MMP-1/13). Oral corticosteroids are first-line; MTX/hydroxychloroquine/cyclosporine for refractory; D-penicillamine occasionally used.
