Sea Moss for Dermatitis Herpetiformis: Anti-Inflammatory, Gluten-IgA & Skin-Gut Support

Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is a chronic autoimmune neutrophilic blistering disease (the skin manifestation of celiac disease) caused by IgA anti-tissue transglutaminase (anti-tTG2/anti-tTG3) immune complexes depositing in dermal papillae, triggering complement activation, neutrophil degranulation, and IL-8/IL-17-driven epidermal-dermal junction cleavage. DH involves gluten-driven Th1/Th17 small intestinal TG2 autoimmunity with cross-reactive skin TG3 targeting; ALL patients have celiac enteropathy. Sea moss fucoidan modulates NF-kB and neutrophil recruitment; omega-3 modulates IL-8/LTB4 eicosanoid neutrophil chemotaxis; selenium supports intestinal and dermal GPx; zinc supports intestinal tight junction and mucosal repair. Strict gluten-free diet (GFD) and dapsone are standard; sea moss provides anti-inflammatory nutritional support alongside GFD adherence.
