Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP, now IgA vasculitis) is the most common systemic vasculitis in children, caused by galactose-deficient IgA1 immune complex deposition in small vessel walls (skin, joints, GI, kidneys), triggering complement C3/C5a-mediated neutrophil degranulation, NF-kB amplification, IL-1beta/TNF-alpha vascular inflammation with palpable purpura, arthritis, abdominal pain/intussusception, and IgAN-like nephritis. Sea moss fucoidan modulates complement C3/C5a and NF-kB; selenium supports vascular and renal GPx protection; zinc supports vascular tight junction and FOXP3+ Treg modulation; omega-3 modulates LTB4/TXA2 vascular eicosanoids. Prednisone (for GI/renal involvement), supportive care, and close renal monitoring are standard; sea moss provides anti-inflammatory nutritional support under pediatric supervision.
