Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an HLA-B27-associated autoimmune disease causing spinal inflammation and progressive vertebral fusion, affecting 0.1-0.5% of the population. AS is driven by IL-17 and TNF-alpha -- the same pathways targeted by biologics (secukinumab, adalimumab). Sea moss fucoidan modulates IL-17 and TNF-alpha via NF-kB inhibition; selenium supports regulatory T-cell function impaired in AS; prebiotic fiber addresses gut microbiome dysbiosis (Klebsiella link) implicated in HLA-B27 AS. NSAIDs and biologics are standard treatment; sea moss provides anti-inflammatory dietary support alongside rheumatologist care.
